I came across Frankies while browsing on Yelp, so I went down to try it one evening last month. It wasn't quite what I expected for a diner, with stylish black and white decor, dim lighting, some pictures of old Queen Street West, and the the beer list written onto a pillar. There are a few booths near the front with tables at the back, and a long eating counter with a well-stocked bar behind it. There was also music playing from a Yamaha stereo and 3 tvs tuned to different channels. There were only a few other people there at the time, so the single server was pretty quick, and the food came quickly too. I returned around lunch time today and it seemed more diner-like, with the lights and music turned up, lots of customers seated or picking-up orders, and two busy servers.

On my first visit, I had the Queen West pulled pork sandwich with fries and a pop ($8.95 for the sandwich + $2.95 for the combo). The sandwich was very good, with cheese and chipotle mayo and lots of coleslaw, and a whole lot of fries. The menu has several sandwich choices, chicken wings or tenders, salads and about a dozen different burgers. Today I had the 'Which Came First? Breakfast' of 3 eggs and grilled chicken with home fries and toast ($10.95). The chicken breast was good (along with some HP Sauce) although a bit small, the eggs were excellent, and the home fries were crispy and plentiful. The breakfast menu has the usual variety of egg dishes, omelettes and griddle items. The coffee was pretty good too and definitely hot. Overall, it seems like a nice diner to grab a quick meal during the day, with a slower pace for relaxing in the evening. I am sure that I will be returning from time to time.

(A final note: when I sat down to write this review, I found that there is also an unrelated Italian restaurant called Frankie's on Queen St East.)

Checked the review then decided to give this brunch place a shot!
I won't say I'm very picky for brunch but this place disappointed me, by a lot :(

I ordered omelette with coffee and my girl friend ordered egg Benedict.
Both are too dry and not very impressive.
Especially she shared her half of the egg Benedict with me. Omg...the eggs were too over-cooked and the yolk were so dry and no liquid coming out at allllll, overall, not a good meal.

I would say, this was one of the bad experiences in Dt toronto brunch!
    Won't come back again :(

This review is not about the food. The food was decent, but nothing special.

I was compelled to write this review after I experienced how HORRIBLE the service was from the two servers who work there - but one was much worse than the other. I wish I had paid attention to their names.

So, came here yesterday for lunch with a group of 5 people.
We walked in and got a table immediately; seating ourselves.
A waitress came by and threw some menus on the table(literally threw them down in passing).
After about 5-10 mins we tried to get the attention of the waitress because nobody had come back to see if we were ready to order.
When we made eye contact and said 'excuse me' she immediately replied 'calm down, I'll come back'.
There was no 'hello, my name is .... and I'll be your waitress today' instead what we were immediately told was that it would be at least 30 minutes before we would get our food.
We started to place our orders and my friend said after one order was taken 'make that two' to which she replied 'calm down - I'll get to yours in a second'.

30-35 mins later the food started to come out.... except for mine.
One problem...no cutlery or napkins were provided so we had to ask for those. The waitress (who was nicer than the original one who took our orders) commented 'bad service'.
My friends all started to eat and I had to flag down the other waitress to find out what happened to my food because our original waitress was no longer accessible to us...
My food came aprox 5 mins after everyone elses, however part of my order was missing- that arrived another 5 mins later.

We had to ask twice for our cheques and we just went up to the counter to pay our bills because at that point we just wanted to get out of there.

This was the first time I left zero tip for the waitress. I felt that the service was so poor that it was deserving of nothing.

I truly hope that the owner of this establishment reads this review and does something to correct the behaviour of the waitress - or fire her because she really leaves you with a bad taste in your mouth.

    Nothing worse than horrible service.
I notice this has been mentioned before in other Yelp reviews... go figure.

Definitely a great bang for buck place. Nothing too impressive but the portions are great.

The one thing that is worth mentioning is to make sure you get something with the hashbrowns because those were done VERY well.

Eggs Neptune- you can't find this price anywhere else. This was a no fuss eggs benny. Quite good and would order again

#Delicious- if you love corn beef, you will die for this. I learned from eating this that I like the canned version and not the real corn beef (i know i'm weird). This came with PLENTIFUL hashbrowns too so that's a plus.

Trust me and come here with 3 people and order 2 entrees. It'll be more than enough.

Wow, terrible, rude and aggressive staff. I don't write bad reviews but this place ABSOLUTELY deserves it.

Made us (a group of 3)stay at the door for 10 minutes while they continuously ignored us. The only times they (lady with brown hair) acknowledged our presence they spoke to us rudely. I had to follow the server in the restaurant to finally get an answer as to how long our wait would be. She rudely barked 20 minutes and walked away from me.

I understand that the restaurant gets busy on Saturdays and that losing one client isn't going to make a dent in their profit, but it is not a reason to treat someone with so little respect.
